Is it possible to get a haircut that has lots of volume, even if you have long hair?

I have long hair, and every time I get it cut I find that there just isn't very much volum to it. I've tried using mousse and hairspray and even drying my hair up-side-down. Nothing works for me.Is it possible to get a haircut that has lots of volume, even if you have long hair?
Ick... i have the same problem.

Unfortunately, you have to sacrifice some volume for long hair- just the weight of it will do that. Long layers are fantastic, but if your hair is fine to begin with it can look choppy.

I use wide hot rollers all over or a fat curling iron (close to the roots with some Aveda hairspray... it's light weight) the bigger the better to add body without so much curl.

I also use a leave-in conditioner instead of a heavy cream in the shower. the leave-in protects your hair better while blow drying, anyway. But instead of blow drying upside down, try blow drying with a large round brush, instead. Also, If you don't have diffuser, it's really worth the investment... They will improve volume drastically. Is it possible to get a haircut that has lots of volume, even if you have long hair?
Hello

If you have your hair long and layered - this will give more volume
You need lots of layers in it. Go to a really good salon, that they stylists know there stuff and when you tell them you want volume they know exactly what kind of cut to give you.
Try backcombing your hair. Just comb it backwards towards your scalp. That will make your hair huge no matter what hair style you have. =]
Keep trying :)
yes have it texturized with texturizing scissors. then backcomb and hairspray to keep the volume. also, you can try a root boost, my fav is the root pump plus from bigsexyhair.
LAYERS!

LAYERS
yeah! tell your stylist to add more volume and layers. they'll know how to do it!
get layers, get it thinned so that too much hair isn't weighing your hair down - it should make a tremendous difference, and curl it under so the curls will help to volumize. Also hair spray usually works best to volumize - other products will most likely weigh it down.
